BCTV BOARD MEETING MINUTES

July 9, 2009

BEDFORD MEETING ROOM

Present were:   Chairman Bob Thomas, Vice Chair Mary Lou Wilson, Katherine Potter, Chris Bandazian (TC Rep), Dick Rawlings and Bob Donahue.

Also present Coleen Richardson and Station Mgr Bill Jennings

Chairman Thomas opened the meeting at 7 p.m. there is no public input so we will skip by that.

Approval of minutes – April 2, 2009

MOTION made by Mr. Rawlings to approve the minutes of April 2, 2009 as presented.  Seconded by Ms. Wilson.  Vote taken – all I favor.  Motion passed.

Chairman Thomas said next is subcommittee updates, Criteria for Volunteer and Producer of the Year Awards, Gene Mackie is out today but we have been working on putting together a list and we will start reviewing that and Mary Lou has an agenda for the awards night to go through.  Mary Lou would you like to take over and go through your awards night?

Ms. Wilson said we had talked at the last meeting about doing the awards night ala Hollywood style only we will do it Bedford wood.  Chairman Thomas said it is September 10th.  Ms. Wilson said so following with that theme, trying to design this, I thought it would be a good idea to have the red carpet, however I think it is too dangerous to have it on the stairs.  We would have the red carpet at the top platform and into the hallway and we can have the tiny white Christmas lights around the door.  I think we should have a photographer there to snap and another idea would be to have a camera person inside the front entrance videoing people as they come in and we may actually have someone act as an emcee and have a few people pulled to the side and talk to them a bit.  Possibly some of the nominees for the award and if we want to get big into this we can go into Talbots and ask them to design clothes for our ladies and we could get Joan Rivers to come up and do a dialogue on what they are wearing and who is donating jewels.  If we can do that and bring them in and have both doors open.  This set-up of chairs would not work well this is classroom style it should be conversational and groups and if some people have to stand so be it, but I think it should be a friendly arrangement rather than sitting in rows.  It will be more of a cocktail set-up.  I would like to have a couple of suggestions and again these are ideas and nothing is cast in stone.  Have the studio open and running a live feed no editing, no cutting just what it is.  If we need to stop the camera at times to put groups together it should not be an edited production that means we need a script and some type of organization. Say Bob is the emcee.  Chairman Thomas said I nominate Gene as he is not here.  Ms. Wilson said we need to do a script for timing.  Coleen was good and I confused a couple of things I thought we were doing the 30 second shoot, but we are doing that at BOTD which is fine. I thought it might be a nice idea and I know we talked about clubs in Town and speak about their organization and we are going to keep it at a 30 second PSA a good friend of ours is doing a challenge, but there are others doing walks and races and trying to raise awareness, i.e. Dick in Veteran’s Count and there may be others out there and as BCTV we should let people know what is going on.  I also suggested we open this up to businesses as they are part of the community they may like to come in and say great job BCTV.  Again these are just suggestions so everyone can yell at me.

Chairman Thomas said my thought is that someone else on the board and myself could go out and with a PSA on our own and say we are looking for local businesses to say Congratulations BCTV, thank you for the volunteers and go out and put their face on it, then after that we will ask them for a donation.
