Welcome to the Town of Bedford, New Hampshire. The Town of Bedford adopted a Town Charter with a Town Council/Town Manager form of government in 1992. We are happy to assist you in any way we can pertaining to town operations. The Town Council and Town staff are committed to achieving excellence in the delivery of community services and we do want your advice and suggestions. The Town Manager is appointed by the Town Council to function as the Chief Administrative Officer of the Town, responsible for the proper administration of all the departments of our Town government. The Town Manager serves at the pleasure of the Town Council, and carries out the policy decision of the Town Council, as well as oversee all property owned by the Town.
It is the Manager’s responsibility to keep the Council informed of the Town’s needs and ongoing conditions, provide reports as may be required by law, requested by the Council, or judged necessary by the Manager. The Manager also takes part in discussions that come before the Town Council, but acts in a non-voting advisory capacity only. In addition to the daily responsibilities, the Town Manager also serves as a voting member of the Planning Board, which plays an important role in shaping Bedford's future.
Bedford is a very exciting Town in which to live, work, play and enjoy. It is filled with residents from all types of disciplines, many of whom volunteer to serve on its many boards, committees and commissions. Many of its residents are also involved in the many social and recreational programs in Bedford. We hope that you find all the information that you are looking for on this newly designed web site. It contains much more town information, links and downloadable information in a much more organized fashion. You will also find all of your community's board and committee meetings are seen live and repeated on our Cable stations 16 & 22.
