Welcome to the home page of the official web site of the Bedford NH Police Department. The web site is currently under construction. It is being redesigned to make it as user friendly as possible. In the meantime I will tell you a little about the Department and the town we serve.
The population of Bedford was estimated to be 20,856 in 2007. Bedford is 32 square miles with almost 200 miles of road bordering Manchester (108,571) on the southwest. We are approximately 50 miles north of Boston, Ma. We have 35 sworn police officers, 8 civilian dispatchers, 1 animal control officer, 5 other civilians including a police prosecutor, five part time sworn officers who work only special details and one auxiliary traffic officer.
The mission of the Bedford Police Department is to preserve the peace, protect life and property, prevent crime, recover lost and stolen property, and enforce in a fair and impartial manner the ordinances of the town, the laws of the state of New Hampshire and of the United States of America.
Officers of the Bedford Police Department shall respect and protect the rights of individuals and perform their duties with honesty, zeal, courage, discretion, fidelity, sound judgment and common sense.
I am proud of the men and women of the Bedford Police Department and hopefully once this website is rebuilt it will showcase them. In the meantime if anyone one has questions or comments feel free to e-mail or call me.
