The Detective Division responds to incidents that require the assignment of a detective to assume responsibility for the investigation and follow-up investigation. Some of the incidents include the following:
- any suspicious or unattended or violent deaths
- assaults
- robberies
- arson
- burglaries
- hostage situations
- home invasions
- kidnappings
The Detective Division is also responsible for crime scene investigations and interviewing witnesses and suspects. In addition, they meet with other area law enforcement agencies and pool their information on criminal activity in their jurisdictions.

- background checks
- cult activity
- latent fingerprint processing
- crimes against the elderly
- interviews and interrogation
- crime scene investigation
- accident scene reconstruction
- scams
- NH SPOTS computer
- gang activity
