Wells & Water Quality

Effective January 1, 2008, the Town of Bedford requires permits for all new and replacements wells being installed. In addition the town will be requiring more comprehensive water testing for all new wells.

Water Test Requirements


For all new and replacement wells constructed/installed after the effective date of this ordinance, a State of New Hampshire certified testing lab shall do a well water analysis of the following parameters.

All of the following 10 Items to be tested for results


  • Bacteria
  • Nitrate

The test results for remaining Items are required for informational purposes only


  • Arsenic
  • Chloride
  • Fluoride
  • Hardness
  • Iron
  • Manganese
  • pH
  • Sodium
