1. When Do I Need a Fire Permit?

A Fire Permit is required anytime there is less than a 100 foot radius of complete snow cover around the fire, or when determined by the Forest Fire Warden that the snow has melted enough throughout the community to start issuing fire permits.

2. Where Can I Obtain a Fire Permit?

Daily Fire Permits can be obtained at the Bedford Fire Department after 4:00 PM or through the online permitting system. Seasonal Fire Permits may only be obtained at the Bedford Fire Department.

3. How Much Does a Fire Permit Cost?

There is no cost to obtain a daily or seasonal fire permit at the Bedford Fire Department. A $3.00 server maintenance fee is assessed for any permit obtained through the online permitting system.

4. How Do I Obtain a Seasonal Fire Permit?

You must apply for a seasonal fire permit at the Bedford Fire Department. Within 7 days a Deputy Warden will inspect your fire pit/outdoor fireplace, the permit will then be issued or you will be contacted regarding the necessary corrections.

5. What Can I Burn?

Clean, untreated wood or brush. Materials must be no greater than 5 inches in diameter.

Combustible domestic waste as defined by RSA-125N, including. but not limited to:
•Household trash
•Packaging Material
•Plastic
•Coated or laminated paper
•Rubber
•Painted or treated wood
•Coated or treated cardboard
•Oily rags
•Animal, vegetable or kitchen waste
•Pressure treated wood or composite materials
